50 Questions to Ask Your Spouse On Date Night

In this post you will find questions to ask your spouse on your next outing or while staying in. Asking each other questions can help you get to know one another more when life gets in the way. Read on to see what these questions to ask your spouse are.

What questions should couples ask each other?

Recently my husband and I were watching an episode of The Office. Since we started dating we have watched The Office – episode after episode, season after season. I would have to say it’s our goto show. There are many characters to follow, but besides the two main male characters Micheal and Dwight, the couple, Jim and Pam Halpert, are fan favorites. If you’ve ever watched The Office, you will probably agree that Jim and Pam are one of the cutest couples, and though, admittedly, they didn’t get together in the best way, a lot of couples may agree that they would love to have a married relationship like Jim and Pam’s.

In the particular episode we were watching, the couple is attending Pam’s ex-fiance’s wedding. As they are leaving for the reception Pam states how, Roy (her ex), is so predictable, and how they would probably be having hotdogs at the reception as that was his suggestion for their planned wedding reception. Jim and Pam show up to the reception and it is the complete opposite of what they had thought it would be.

The event is both elegant and charming. Roy is surprisingly friendly and even thanks Jim for “stealing” Pam as he would not have met and married his lovely new bride. Later Roy surprises his bride with the fact that he has been taking lessons to learn to play the piano. Roy continues to serenade her with a song and piano combo, and Jim and Pam are noticeable dumbfounded. After the reception, Jim and Pam begin to think that maybe people are not always what they seem, and they start wonder if they know everything about each other.

Getting to Know Your Spouse

Before marriage and within those first couple years, you want to know every single detail about that person, so you ask. You ask questions about one another’s personal lives – the details of before you were together and now. But after a few years of marriage, the curiosity starts to fade, and you tend to not ask those questions as much anymore, or maybe not at all. Perhaps it’s because you are too busy or possibly because you simply forget to take the time.

We should always be trying to learn about and know our significant other as much as possible. We should take the time to get to know each other even after years of marriage. Who knows, maybe your spouse will surprise you. What you learned about your spouse before marriage, or in the early years may have changed.

Date Night

Make the time to go on a date can be tough, especially after having kids. Sometimes it seems the date night can turn into a robotic thing. Even though you’re going on a date, which is wonderful, you can get caught up in just doing the same thing each time and “going through the motions” of a date. Get dressed up, go to the restaurant, talk about what’s planned for next week, possibly scroll through your phone as you’re chatting, and go to a movie; never taking the time to truly “be with your spouse.”

Now don’t get me wrong. Sometimes this kind of “plan everything for the week, don’t really think of anything else” date is EXACTLY what you need. But sometimes a good heart-to-heart between you and your spouse is needed. Even if you have lived together for a year, 5, 10 or even 50 years, you may not know everything about that person or, worst-case scenario, you will find that you do. #marriagegoals, am I right?!
