Simple Classic Chili

Warm up this winter with a delicious bowl of steaming chili. This simple classic chili is a tasty but quick meal to serve to your family. Double the recipe and bring it to a potluck.

Beef and onions for simple classic chili

Simple Classic Chili Recipe

1 Pound – Ground beef

1 – Medium yellow onion, chopped

1 Teaspoon – Salt

½ Teaspoon – Black pepper

1 Tablespoon – Minced garlic

2 Tablespoons – Chili powder

1 Tablespoon – Cumin

½ Tablespoon – Oregano leaves

1 (15 Ounce) Can – Kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 (15.5 Ounce) Can – Pinto beans, drained and rinsed

1 Cup – Beef broth

1 Cup – Mild salsa

1 (15 Ounce) Can – Petite diced tomatoes

Ingredients for simple classic chili

Directions

  1. In a large pot, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook on medium heat until the beef is browned. Season the beef with salt, pepper and garlic.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients, and bring to a low boil.
  3. Turn down the heat to low, and simmer for twenty minutes.
  4. Garnish with your favorite toppings, pair with a side of cornbread and enjoy!

Notes

To add some nice kick to this simple classic chili add ⅛ teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
